The global aluminium recycled sector is one of the most important sectors of the metal industry. With carbon emission reduction or an eco-friendly environment being the need of the hour, top companies like Hydro, BMW, etc., are looking for ways to achieve the same. BMW Group, a German multinational automaker specialising in luxury automobiles, continues to adhere to its ardent sustainability goals and plans to reduce its carbon emissions by 40% per vehicle throughout the whole value chain by 2030, which corresponds to 2019. Next in line is the news of Hydro’s recent NOK 150 million ($15 million) investment in its Henderson facility in Kentucky underlines the need for the automotive sector to move toward a more environmentally friendly and sustainable future.

The German multinational manufacturer of Luxury vehicles, BMW Group, pursues to cling to its zealous sustainability goals and will restrict its carbon emissions by 40 per cent per vehicle by 2030 crosswise the complete value chain equating to 2019.

Volkswagen Group's Slovakia site is one of the first units to enrol in the Aluminium Closed Loop project, which includes recycling aluminium stamping offcuts from press shops that come back to the aluminium roll suppliers. These aluminium offcuts are then subjected to reform, after which the actual metal can be extracted for re-production without any stain on the quality.

Bus Éireann, a state-regulated bus and coach provider from Dublin, is diverting the customers from the region towards a sustainable practice of returning used aluminium cans and single-use plastic bottles through a reverse vending machine scheme.

Hydro's recent investment of NOK 150 million ($15 million) into its Henderson factory in Kentucky highlights the urge of the automobile industry to shift towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment. Romanian city Cluj-Napoca had recently introduced a new pilot project to induce waste collection and recycling, whereby people have to deposit empty bottles or aluminium cans to get complimentary bus tickets in return. For this, a reverse vending machine is mounted at the Zorilor agro-food market located in the city.

World Recycled Aluminium Market Analysis

Following a 5.0% expansion in 2021, Lithuania's economy is expected to expand by 1.9% in 2022, a moderate increase over the 1.7% forecast in spring, resulting from a better-than-expected quarter for exports. It is also expected to grow by 2.5% in 2023.
