The facility, located at Plant V in Baliguma village under the Kolabira post office area of Saraikela–Kharsawan district, has an installed capacity of 3,000 tonnes per annum and marks the company’s first operational step into aluminium forging.

Set up with modern forging equipment and tightly controlled production systems, the plant is designed to manufacture precision aluminium components that combine strength with reduced weight. These attributes have become increasingly critical for automotive and industrial applications, particularly as manufacturers look to improve efficiency without compromising performance.

The timing of the expansion is aligned with the shifting trends in the industry when electric vehicles are in talks in the global markets. Alongside, the demand for lightweight materials has been significantly high. In recent times, aluminium forgings are being widely used to reduce overall vehicle mass, improved energy-efficiency and support evolving design requirements. No doubt , industry veterans are considering aluminium as the core element of the next-gen mobility drive.

By entering aluminium forging, the company is most likely to address both Indian and international original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), as well as Tier-1 suppliers, which are mostly focused on the electric vehicle and allied mobility segments. The move is expected to strengthen its standing as a supplier of value-added components across multiple markets.

While being a strategic move at this point of time, the new facility will positively impact the regional economic scenario. The new facility will not only create employment opportunities for the locals but also contribute to the industrial development across the region. With a deliberate attention to safety, operational efficiency and sustainability, the unit is aligned with the company’s broader manufacturing approach.

The operational start of the new facility certainly adds a new dimension to Ramkrishna Forgings’ growth plans. The company, with its footprint in railways, automotive, farm equipment, and mining, is taking a bold leap towards long-term diversification and a growth plan. According to the management, the company’s expansion plan will support future growth and open up opportunities in high-growth areas, particularly electric mobility, in the years ahead.
