Pahal Solar expands solar module portfolio with move into aluminium frame manufacturing

EDITED BY : 2MINS READ

Pahal Solar, a Surat-based solar panel module manufacturing firm, is eyeing to push backward integration to expand its solar panel module components portfolio. The company aims to augment its product range as well as manufacturing capabilities to strengthen the domestic supply chain for solar module components in line with the demand growth. This shift is also aligned with the wider industry trend of reducing import dependence and improving production stability.

Ayush Sharma, Head – North India at Pahal Solar, explained the firm is preparing to scale up by deploying more efficient technologies and introducing new groundbreaking solar products. Pahal Solar currently operates with 2 GW of module capacity, and is working on adding an additional 2 GW capacity in the near term.

Sharma further said, “Pahal Solar began operations in 2016 with just 40 MW. Today, we have 2 GW of capacity with TOPCon modules and 400 MW of mono PERC capacity under DCR. We plan to expand to 4 GW by the next financial year.”

Sharma also confirmed that Pahal Solar is entering cell and aluminium frame manufacturing. “We have planned a 2 GW solar cell manufacturing line, and we expect to start delivering cells from the first quarter of 2027. We are also setting up aluminium frame production. At present, we are producing 610 Wp M10R modules and 630 Wp G12R modules,” he added. This move ensures better control over key inputs. It also helps manage cost pressures in a price-sensitive sector.

Policy support powers further growth

Policy support is another growth driver. Schemes like PM-KUSUM have pushed demand for DCR-compliant modules. Sharma said the trend is clear - “Demand for DCR modules is rising. We want to strengthen backward integration so that we can manufacture most raw materials—ribbons, aluminium frames and other components—within our own facilities. We are producing both DCR and non-DCR modules. Our 600 Wp non-DCR and G12R DCR modules are already in production.”

According to Sharma, policy momentum is lifting the whole industry. “With government schemes in place, more domestic players have expanded their capacity. This has helped grow the market for Indian manufacturers,” he added.
