Alba reaches 50m hours without LTI, strengthening aluminium safety record

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) has reached 50 million safe working hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI). The milestone was achieved on September 7, 2026, marking a record in the company’s history.
The achievement reflects Alba’s continued focus on workplace safety across its aluminium operations. The company said the milestone was made possible through the combined efforts of its employees, management and contractor workforce, with safety built into day-to-day activities and operations.
Alba CEO Ali Al Baqali said reaching 50 million safe working hours was a significant achievement for the company and “a proud moment in Alba’s history.” In his words, “It reflects Alba’s unwavering commitment to fostering a workplace where safety is embedded in every activity, decision and behaviour.”
He also thanked employees and contractors for their contribution and said the company would continue working to strengthen its safety performance.
The milestone builds on Alba’s investment in safety leadership, workforce engagement, capability building and safety management systems. The company operates under the motto “Safety First, Safety Always”, with employee and contractor safety positioned as a key priority across its operations.
Alba produced more than 1.6 million tonnes of aluminium in 2025, making it a major producer in the global aluminium industry. The company has also marked 50 years of operations, with safety and operational excellence forming part of its long-standing focus.

Its safety record has received international recognition over the years. Alba has received awards from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), including its Lifetime President and President Awards, as well as the British Safety Council’s International Safety Award with Merit and a 5-Star Audit Rating. It has also received several recognitions from the National Safety Council.
The latest milestone adds to Alba’s safety record as the company continues to focus on safe and efficient aluminium production.
