China Hongqiao’s recycled aluminium efforts earn third consecutive Circular Economy Leadership Award

China Hongqiao Group Limited has received the Circular Economy Leadership Award at the 2026 Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards in Singapore in recognition of its work in developing recycled aluminium.

Organised by Enterprise Asia, the award marks the third consecutive year that China Hongqiao has received the honour.

The company has placed sustainability and circular economy practices at the centre of its strategy, aligning its efforts with China’s “3060” dual-carbon goals and its own “25·55” Climate Action Target, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations by 2055.

China Hongqiao has been working on reducing emissions across its value chain through clean energy substitution, efficient use of resources, low-carbon technology development and changes to its production processes.

The company has developed an industrial chain covering mining, alumina refining, primary aluminium production, deep processing, advanced materials and recycled aluminium. Its expansion in recycled aluminium aims to reduce reliance on raw material extraction while lowering energy use and carbon emissions.

According to the company, recycled aluminium can reduce energy consumption by nearly 95 per cent and greenhouse gas emissions by more than 85 per cent compared with conventional electrolytic aluminium production.

The award recognises China Hongqiao’s continued focus on recycled aluminium and circular economy practices as part of its wider efforts to develop lower-carbon aluminium production.
