North America's aluminum extruded product shipments drop 3.8% in January-October 2019

According to the latest reports from Aluminum Association, shipments of Aluminum Extruded Products (extruded shapes, pipe & tube, and rod & bar) by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 203,572 tonnes during October 2019, a drop of 9.2 per cent from the October 2018 total of 224,075 tonnes. Month on month shipments rose 5.7 per cent over the September 2019 revised total of 192,777 tonnes. YTD shipments through October 2019 stood at 2 million tonnes, off 3.8 per cent from YTD 2018.

Estimated shipments of Aluminum Drawing Stock, Bare Wire and Rod & Bar by U.S. and Canadian producers totalled 3764 tonnes during October 2019, a drop of 19.8 per cent from the October 2018 total of 4672 tonnes.  Month on month shipments rose 1.4 per cent over the September 2019 total of 3719 tonnes. YTD shipments through October 2019 stood at 392,811 tonnes, off 18.3 per cent from YTD 2018.

Estimated shipments of Aluminum Forgings and Impacts by U.S. and Canadian producers totalled 1315 tonnes during October 2019, off 8.3 per cent from the October 2018 total of 1451 tonnes. Month on month, shipments decreased 8.3 per cent from the September 2019 total of 1451 tonnes. YTD shipments through October 2019 totalled 138,346 tonnes, slightly down from YTD 2018.
