New developments for the 2nd day at the 12th ALUMINIUM TWO THOUSAND World Congress and 7th ICEB

The 12th ALUMINIUM TWO THOUSAND World Congress and the 7th ICEB (International Conference on Extrusion and Benchmark), to be held at Bologna (Royal Hotel Carlton), Italy, 19-23 September 2023, have some more new developments for its participants.

Since its 6th edition, the Aluminium Two Thousand Congress also hosts the International Conference on Extrusion and Benchmark (ICEB), a meeting point for researchers from many different countries and the biggest event in Europe regarding the most recent developments in extrusion technology and its analysis through FEM simulation.
On Wednesday, 20 September, one of the morning sessions will be entirely dedicated to such advancements: the benchmark session represents the most reliable way to compare FEM codes applicable to the simulation of the extrusion process in a single step and the most fair and accurate conditions. The benchmark is organized to examine FEM code capabilities and users’ knowledge in the simulation of an industrial case.
While the morning Extrusion session will be entirely devoted to the 2023 benchmark case and its experimental results, the afternoon will see the presentations of Luis Rauscher (WEFA Inotec GmbH, Germany): Surface optimization by simulation using CVD Coated Cartridge® Technology; Riccardo Pelaccia (University of Bologna, Italy): Recent trends in nitrogen cooling modelling of extrusion dies; Michel Bouvier (NG-New pour SINTERmat®, France): Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) for extrusion dies material: a new quantum leap in the durability and cost savings in tooling; Ramakumar Jayachandran (Hydro extrusion Expa, Norway): Proficiency testing of aluminium round tensile specimens; Piero Parona (Baraldi Srl, Italy): Release agents for Dummy Block and Billet without EHS issues.
In the Foundry, Casting and Die-casting session, the especially recommend paper by Omilion A. (Fives North American Combustion Inc., USA): Decarbonizing high-temperature aluminium processes using Regenerative Burner Systems with Hydrogen Fuel.
Of particular interest in the afternoon Alloy section is the presentation by Carta Marco (University of Cagliari, Italy): Feasibility study of solid-state recycling through direct hot rolling of aluminium chips for automotive applications.
Finally, in the Anodizing, Coating and Surface treatments session, Carlotto Alessio (ST Powder Coatings Spa, Italy)will be highlighted: Environmental sensitivity + energy saving = Cool Powder coating systems; and Rovai Romeu (Italtecno do Brazil, Brasil): Wastewater treatment of Aluminium Finishing plants: the most innovative solution.
The day will come to a happy conclusion with the Gala Dinner among the splendour of Palazzo Gnudi – the perfect opportunity to enjoy a night of luxury and good food while socializing with the leading faces of the aluminium business.
