Metro Mining reports 7.45% increase in bauxite production in August

Metro Mining provides update on production and shipping results for the month of August. The company reported bauxite production of 476 thousand wet metric tonnes (WMT) in August, up 7.45% from 443 thousand WMT in July. Production in the first two months of this quarter came in at 919 thousand WMT.

Metro Mining said that the Bauxite Hills team continue to perform strongly with the operation performing at above budgeted levels.

The company’s August bauxite shipments stood at 455 thousand WMT, from 463 thousand WMT in July. Shipments in the first two months of this quarter came in at 918 thousand WMT.

Bauxite mined per day was 15,356 WMT, compared to 14,286 WMT last month.  Shipment per day stood at 14,689 WMT in August.

“The continued high levels of operational performance at the mine highlights the positive impact of upgrading the haulage and transhipment fleets and duplicating the screening capability over the wet season,” Metro Mining said.

The mine is ideally placed to maintain current levels for the remainder of the operating year and is on track to meet production and shipping guidance of 3.3-3.5M WMT for 2019”.
