Impact Minerals has proposed changing its corporate name to Altrica Advanced Materials as it sharpens its focus on high-purity alumina (HPA) development. The proposed rebranding reflects the company's strategic shift towards its 80 per cent-owned Lake Hope project in Western Australia, which has become its principal priority for management attention and development capital.

The name change will require shareholder approval through a special resolution at the company's annual general meeting scheduled for November 30, 2026. The proposal follows an October strategic review that established a clearer direction for the company's HPA activities while separating them from its earlier focus on precious and base metals exploration.

Lake Hope remains central to HPA development strategy

The Lake Hope project continues to occupy a central position in Impact Minerals' development plans. Its June 2025 pre-feasibility study (PFS) outlined a net present value (NPV) of AUD 1.165 billion (USD 815.60 million) at a 10 per cent discount rate and a post-tax internal rate of return (IRR) of 47 per cent.

The financial projections were based on approximately 33 years of feedstock. Impact Minerals has confirmed that the material assumptions supporting the PFS production target and associated financial forecasts remain unchanged.

The company's next major operational milestone is the Lake Hope pilot plant installation and commissioning programme, which is scheduled to commence on November 30, 2026. The timing places the planned development activity alongside the shareholder vote on the proposed corporate name change.

Alluminous advances HPA customer qualification

Alongside Lake Hope, Impact Minerals holds a 50 per cent interest in Alluminous, which operates the HiPurA pilot plant in Perth. The facility is producing high-purity alumina for customer qualification.

Initial samples have already been shipped to US battery technology partner Charge CCCV, as the company explores potential applications for HPA across several advanced industries.

These include semiconductors, LED lighting, batteries, synthetic sapphire and technical ceramics. The applications represent potential markets for the material as Impact Minerals develops its HPA business.

Exploration assets to remain separate

Under the proposed strategy, Impact Minerals intends to maintain a clear distinction between its HPA activities at Lake Hope and Alluminous and its Broken Hill and Commonwealth metals exploration assets.

The exploration team will redirect its focus towards critical minerals, with work involving manganese, tungsten and bismuth remaining at an early stage.

The board believes the proposed Altrica identity would provide a more suitable platform for presenting a focused HPA development proposition to institutional investors as the company's 100-day strategic plan progresses.

Executive chair Jim McKerlie said, "The strategic review gave us one capital priority and two clearly separated businesses-Altrica Advanced Materials is a name that reflects that strategy."

"Investors will see Altrica as an HPA critical mineral developer, and we will be measured against clear milestones, starting with construction and commissioning the Lake Hope pilot plant by 30 November 2026," McKerlie added later.

The proposed rebranding represents another step in Impact Minerals' strategic transformation, with the company seeking to establish a more clearly defined HPA identity while advancing Lake Hope and maintaining its separate exploration interests. Shareholder approval at the November 30 AGM will determine whether the proposed name change proceeds.
