
LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price recorded a downtrend this week by US$ 75 per tonne. The prices started the week on Monday, August 16, with a surge of US$ 41.50 per tonne to US$ 2,644 per tonne but decreased on the subsequent day, August 17, by US$ 10 per tonne to US$ 2,633 per tonne. On Wednesday, August 18, both LME aluminium cash (bid) price and LME official settlement price further declined to US$ 2,589.50 per tonne and closed even lower at US$ 2,544 per tonne on Thursday, August 19. However, on Friday, the prices edged higher by US$ 25 per tonne to close the week at US$ 2,569 per tonne.

3-months bid price and 3-months offer price also slipped this week by US$ 74 per tonne. On Monday, August 16, the prices stood at US$ 2,626 per tonne, which on the next day, August 17, decreased to US$ 2,618.50 per tonne. On Wednesday, August 18, both 3-months bid price and 3-months offer price plunged by US$ 47 per tonne to come in at US$ 2,571.50 per tonne and further shrank to US$ 2,532 per tonne on Thursday, August 19. The prices settled higher on Friday than the previous day by US$ 20 per tonne to US$ 2,552 per tonne.
Dec 22 bid price and Dec 22 offer price edged lower this week from US$ 2,584 per tonne on August 16 to US$ 2,523 per tonne on August 20.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
Benchmark aluminium price for SHFE shrank by US$ 62 per tonne or 2 per cent over the week from August 16 to 20. On Monday, the price stood at US$ 3,133 per tonne, which decreased by US$ 13 per tonne to US$ 3,120 per tonne on Tuesday, August 17. On Wednesday, August 18, SHFE aluminium price rebounded to US$ 3,136 per tonne but plunged on Thursday, August 19, to US$ 3,080 per tonne. On Friday, August 20, the price closed even lower at US$ 3,071 per tonne.
