Weekly update: Aluminium ingot price ended the week higher; Alumina price remained flat

SMM aluminium ingot price saw mixed performance over the week. The week started with a growth of RMB 200 per tonne to stand at RMB 20250 per tonne on Monday, 16 August. The price settled lower at RMB 20230 per tonne on Tuesday. The price on Friday, August 20, stood higher at RMB 20100 per tonne, after declining it on Thursday. The price is expected to move within a range of RMB 20080-20120 per tonne.

As updated by Shanghai Metals Market, social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, increased 2,000 tonnes this week. The stocks came in at 741,000 tonnes as of Thursday, 19 August 2021.

The alumina price in China started the week higher at RMB 2644 per tonne on Monday, 16 August 2021, an increase of RMB 13 per tonne. The price remained unchanged on Tuesday and Wednesday. The alumina price stood at RMB 2667 per tonne on Thursday, up by RMB 23 per tonne. The price did not show any movement on Friday.

Other raw materials like Bauxite (4.5≤Al/Si＜5.5) price in Henan, Australian Alumina FOB Price, Prebaked Anode Central, and Al Fluoride are hovering at RMB 430 per tonne, USD 300 per tonne, RMB 4565 per tonne and RMB 7800 per tonne as of Friday, 20 August 2021.
