Formed aluminum foil maker Jann Cherng Technological is installing new production lines for making etched aluminum foils with the additional capacity to come online in the first half of 2012, according to the company.

The company said it currently imports about 80% of etched aluminum foils, the key material for the production of formed aluminum foils, from Japan and produces the remaining 20% in-house.

The company said its performance has been affected by imported etched aluminum foils. As etched aluminum foils account for 70% of total production costs, the company needs to increase the internal supply of the key materials.

However, with current order visibility extending to less than one month, the company said it is not positive about the outlook for the first quarter of 2012.
