Ministry of Mines is set to auction around 10 bauxite blocks in the month of March and April, 2018 in a bid to enhance India’s aluminium production, a senior government official said.

Mines Secretary Arun Kumar said: “We are well endowed with bauxite reserves and I am aware that some industries are starved of materials. But with a more transparent auction process in place and the issue of price fixation likely to be resolved in the next month or so, about 10 bauxite blocks will come up for auction in March and April this year.”
He was speaking at the conference on ‘Landscape for Non-Ferrous Metals in India: Vision 2030’, organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in association with the Ministry of Mines.
"In the three months, that is December, January and February, post amendment (of auction rules) 41 blocks have come on auction," said Arun Kumar.
