The construction and commissioning of the industrial unit began only 10 months ago and is now running at scale. Internationally, it is the first facility to implement a breakthrough technology that converts low-grade bauxite into high-quality feedstock and therefore can be applied in aluminium production. This innovation has the potential to not only revive exhausted bauxite mines but also enable rare earth and critical mineral extraction to be used in electric vehicles, semiconductors, and national defence.
This inauguration is not merely an achievement but the outcome of a decade of research and development. It has opened a new industrial path to the alumina industry that is more efficient, sustainable, and improves the economics of domestic refining. The cutting-edge facility sets the foundation stone for IB2’s breakthrough to resolve the issue of reviving dormant bauxite mines across China as well as globally.
