Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has reportedly certified Hindalco Industries Limited’s Kuppam Works plant in Andhra Pradesh, India, against Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V1 (2017) certification. The plant has achieved ASI’s CoC certification for the second time. In August 2023, the facility bagged ASI Performance Standard certification.

Hindalco’s Kuppam Works plant manufactures value-added aluminium extrusion profiles. It has a capacity of 15,000 tonnes of aluminium alloy extruded products per annum.
Kuppam Works facility got the certification after undergoing a stringent, independent, third-party audit by CETIZION Verifica. The audit occurred before May 31, 2023; thus, the plant received Chain of Custody Standard V1 certification.
The ASI CoC Standard V1 certification sets out pre-requisite factors for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors.
On receiving the certification, Mr. Nilesh Koul, Head- Downstream Aluminium Business, said: “I am happy that we now offer customers verified sustainability credentials that our products are responsibly sourced and produced. This provides assurance to our customers and other business partners that we are strongly committed to meeting their increased sustainability requirements and demand for sustainable aluminium.”
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, commented: “We congratulate Hindalco Industries Ltd on achieving CoC Certification at the Kuppam Works extrusion plant. Dual ASI Certification is an important signal to customers that the company is committed to responsible production and ethical sourcing practices. As the regulatory landscape continues to change and require increasing upstream transparency, CoC Certification helps identify and mitigate supply chain risks.”
