Nespresso UK selects London’s Third City as sustainability communications specialist

Third City has been selected as Nespresso UK and Ireland's first sustainability communications agency following a competitive pitch. The strategic objective for the B Corp agency is to strengthen Nestlé's global coffee brand's sustainability commitment to its consumers.

The agency will focus on promoting the recyclability of Nespresso's aluminium-based capsules and highlighting its local and coffee farming community initiatives. This is reinforced by Nespresso's own B Corp certification in 2022.

Third City will oversee the planning of activities that span across various functions, such as earned media, digital, CRM, e-commerce, and Nespresso boutiques, to engage with both existing and wider audiences. The UK consumer account of the brand remains under the stewardship of Alfred, who was appointed last year.

In light of the new win and the agency's burgeoning consumer, not-for-profit, and sustainability portfolio, Third City has welcomed a new partner. Zana Francis, a corporate, issues, and sustainability specialist who joined Lansons in 2014, has been identified as a partner in the firm, making her the seventh equity associate. Francis, who was instrumental in securing Nespresso's B Corp certification, will be fundamental in leading Nespresso to newer sustainability goals.

The communications manager of Nestlé Nespresso UK and Ireland, Katie Burt, narrated: "Third City's strategic thinking and creativity stood out from the very start of the pitch process – we're excited to have them on board."

Susanna Francis, a Third City partner, stated: "Nespresso has an incredible sustainability story to tell, from its commitment to driving up recycling rates, initiatives to increase the resilience of coffee farming communities, to collaborating to give capsules a second life. Our programme will show how coffee can be a force for good."

Novelis

Third City has a hefty client base on display, with Kia appointing it the previous year to aid the launch of its latest electric vehicle. Other important clients are fintech unicorn Bitpanda, FTSE 250 Homeserve, the National Fostering Group and sustainable energy firm Gridserve.
