Emirates Global Aluminium to open a $3 billion worth alumina refinery in Abu Dhabi

Kalban told reporters that the feasibility studies reveal that by the end of 2017, the refinery will become operational. He stated that the prime intension behind building the refinery is to secure their own important materials adding that the refinery would be able to produce 4 million tonnes annually once it reaches full capacity.
The $15-billion worth Emirates Global Aluminium emerged after a merger last year between Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Aluminium (Emal) and Dubai Aluminium (Dubal) making it the fifth largest aluminium company in the world.
