Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the largest industrial company in the UAE, has recently announced that it has signed an agreement to supply CelestiAL-R billets to Sankyo Tateyama through its strategic partner ITOCHU Corporation. Sankyo Tateyama is a leading Japanese manufacturing company that produces various construction materials for buildings, architectural and industrial applications and housing.
The recent announcement of EGA, the world’s biggest ‘premium aluminium’ producer, has made it obvious that the introduction of CelestiAL-R billets would help the company to meet all the rising demands of low-carbon aluminium within extrusion and other applications. The CelestiAL-R billets are a combination of scrap metal along with aluminium produced with solar power. It would help to reduce greenhouse gas on a significant scale.
The demand for low-carbon aluminium is gradually rising in Japan as most of the industries seek to reduce their overall carbon footprints to meet its national net-zero targets. The most significant reason behind the production of CelestiAL-R by EGA is that it is the largest producer of primary aluminium, along with its effective selection of scrap metal and the availability of flexible casthouses of EGA.
Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, said, “Our first production of CelestiAL-R billets is a step forward in expanding the portfolio of our most sustainable aluminium products. At EGA, we focus on innovation and flexibility in delivering the highest quality, low-carbon aluminium to meet specific customer needs. We value our long-standing partnership with Sankyo Tateyama and thank them for their continued trust in EGA.”
President of Sankyo Tateyama, Shozo Hirano, said, “Reducing Scope 3 CO2 emissions from aluminium raw material is a major challenge in achieving carbon neutrality. By using CelestiAL-R in addition to CelestiAL, which is supplied by our long-time partners EGA and ITOCHU Corporation, we aim to contribute to a sustainable and affluent life.”
The scrap used for CelestiAL-R is a mixture of pre-consumer and post-consumer industrial scrap. The effective selection of all the required scrap, along with testing it against 40 different chemicals, helps in the formulation of high-quality CelestiAL-R.
