Drive-Through Metals Recycling Facility in Salt Lake City, Utah

Western Metals Recycling, a Utah-based subsidiary of Nucor, on Wednesday will open a 24,000-square-foot drive-through metals recycling facility at its headquarters, 4201 W. 700 South in Salt Lake City.
The recycling center will buy ferrous scrap, as well as common household nonferrous scrap metal items such as aluminum, copper and brass products. Nonferrous is a term that refers to metals other than iron and steel.
To use the facility, those with metals to recycle need only drive up, take their recyclables out of their vehicles and weigh the materials. A receipt will be issued that can be used at an ATM-like machine at the facility that dispenses cash.
Western is one of the largest scrap brokers/processors in the country. It employs 300 and operates nine recycling facilities in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico. The company’s Salt Lake City facility is a main scrap metal supplier to Nucor’s Plymouth steel mill in northern Utah.
