China’s alumina spot price marks M-o-M fall of RMB18/t on April 12; A00 aluminium ingot price gains RMB60/t

The average alumina spot price in China has dropped by RMB 2 per tonne on Wednesday, April 12, after remaining restrained for the past three days at RMB 2,920 per tonne, found the Shanghai Metals Market. Data shows the price has come in at RMB 2,918 per tonne as of April 12, marking a month-on-month downtrend of RMB 18 per tonne.

In Guizhou, the average alumina price has shrunk by RMB 10 per tonne after a more than a month-long restraint, standing at RMB 2,855 per tonne on April 12. The average prices are likely to range between RMB 2,820 per tonne and RMB 2,890 per tonne. In Shanxi and Guangxi, alumina price has dipped by RMB 5 per tonne to settle at RMB 2,950 per tonne and RMB 2,805 per tonne, respectively.

According to SMM, A00 aluminium ingot price has heightened by RMB 60 per tonne to stand at RMB 18,440 per tonne, following two consecutive days of sharp downfall from RMB 18,670 per tonne to RMB 18,380 per tonne. The average prices are likely to hover around RMB 18,420 per tonne and RMB 18,460 per tonne, with spot contract estimated to trade at a discount price of RMB 40 per tonne.

In Foshan and Chongqing, A00 aluminium ingot price has climbed RMB 100 and RMB 80 per tonne to rest at RMB 18,600 per tonne as of April 12, followed by the increase of RMB 70 per tonne in Gongyi to RMB 18,380 per tonne. In Wuxi, Hangzhou, Tianjin, and Linyi, the primary aluminium ingot price has risen by RMB 60 per tonne to peg at RMB 18,435 per tonne, RMB 18,470 per tonne, RMB 18,460 per tonne, and RMB 18,490 per tonne, respectively, while that in Shenyang has grown by RMB 40 per tonne to RMB 18,470 per tonne.

China’s domestic price of low-carbon aluminium has gained RMB 100 per tonne to clock at RMB 19,182 per tonne.

In tandem with the primary aluminium ingot price growth, aluminium alloy (A360) price has increased by RMB 50 per tonne to stand at RMB 19,600 per tonne, with average prices likely to range between RMB 19,450 per tonne and RMB 19,750 per tonne.

However, on the other hand, aluminium alloys (ADC12) price and aluminium alloy (A380) price have remained restrained at RMB 19,200 per tonne and RMB 19,600 per tonne, respectively.

Among other primary aluminium input costs, aluminium powder price has inched up by RMB 0.10 per kg to close at RMB 20.4 per kg, with average prices estimated to range between RMB 20.3-20.5 per kg.
