On February 9, 2023, the National Employment Fund (NEF) and the Australian mining company Canyon Resources' Cameroonian subsidiary Camalco engaged in developing the project to explore the Minim Martap bauxite deposit in the Adamaoua region, inked a partnership agreement in Yaoundé.

André Henry, the Director General of Camalco, said, "We intend to be close to the NEF so that precisely when we want to start the work and hire, we can rely on them to have qualified employees."
The NEF will have to provide Camalco with its database of job seekers when the time comes to facilitate the recruitment of skilled labour for the Minim Martap project within the framework of this collaboration. Whenever Camalco's human resources requirements change, the mining operator should contact the NEF.
Initially, our sources informed us that 700 to 800 employees would have to be recruited from good sources at the beginning of the project. However, Camalco and its parent firm Canyon Resources stated when production from the Minim Martap deposit starts, the workforce might increase to 2,000 employees during the cruising phase.
The potential of this bauxite deposit, according to the most recent analysis, is 892 million tonnes, including 250 million tonnes at "extremely high grade," which is suitable for making aluminium.
James Durrant, the Project Manager at Canyon Resources, stated, "The analysis of the remaining 63 plateaus should bring the deposit's potential to around 2 billion tonnes of bauxite, which would make it probably the largest deposit in the world, considering quantity and quality."
