The primary source of aluminium production, bauxite gained its output by 1.2% in 2020, from the previous year to 371 million tonnes, as per the latest report by GlobalData. The London headquartered data analytics and consulting company GlobalData, a gold standard data provider to the world's largest industries stated that this growth was majorly braced by higher output from the second-largest producer of the world and leading exporter, Guinea with an estimated 25.1% surge.

National Aluminium Company Limited’s (NALCO) Panchpatmali bauxite mine has reportedly bagged the prestigious Pollution Control Excellence Award 2021 for effective and efficient pollution control measures and commendable environmental management practices. The award, conducted by the State Pollution Control Board, Odisha, was handed over to NALCO by Forest and Environment Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha.

The West African nation Ghana, spanning the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean to the south has selected a wholly-owned Ghanaian company, Rocksure International as a strategic partner to develop a bauxite mine and alumina refinery in a bid to develop an industry out of its untapped aluminium ore reserves. The country’s capital Accra-based company, Rocksure International will hold a 70% stake in the project and the state-owned Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corp (GIADEC) will have the remaining 30% stake.
