
China’s primary aluminium input prices have resumed the market from a week-long Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Holiday on a high note. After remaining restrained for almost two months, China’s domestic bauxite prices have recorded a rise, particularly bauxite (4.5≤Al/Si<5.5) Shanxi and bauxite (4.5≤Al/Si<5.5) Henan, according to the Shanghai Metals Market. As of Monday, October 9, the former has increased by RMB 10 per tonne to stand at RMB 490 per tonne, and the latter has grown by RMB 5 per tonne to peg at RMB 500 per tonne. The average prices of the former are likely to range between RMB 480-500 per tonne, while that of the latter is estimated to hover around RMB 490-510 per tonne.

The imported bauxite price has marked a rise of US$1.29 per tonne on October 9 to start the week at RMB 69.66 per tonne. The price of imported bauxite from Guinea has grown slightly by US$0.50 per tonne to stand at US$69 per tonne, with average prices likely to range between RMB 68-70 per tonne.
China’s domestic average alumina spot price has neither shied away from flaunting a growth of RMB 8 per tonne to kick-start the week at RMB 2,961 per tonne, found SMM. In Shanxi and Guangxi, the alumina price has increased by RMB 10 per tonne to settle at RMB 2,980 per tonne, while the price in Guizhou stands at RMB 2,940 per tonne gaining RMB 10 per tonne.
However, despite the rise in raw materials prices, China’s A00 aluminium ingot price has shrunk by RMB 260 per tonne as the market opens after a break. According to SMM, the primary aluminium ingot price stands at RMB 19,590 per tonne, with average prices estimated to range between RMB 19,570 per tonne and RMB 19,610 per tonne.
In Hangzhou, A00 aluminium ingot price has contracted by RMB 270 per tonne to come in at RMB 19,580 per tonne, and that in Gongyi, Foshan, and Chongqing has dwindled by RMB 260 per tonne to peg at RMB 19,470 per tonne, RMB 19,280 per tonne, and RMB 19,590 per tonne.
The low-carbon aluminium price has also registered a fall of RMB 261 per tonne to stand at RMB 20,071 per tonne. The average prices are estimated to range between RMB 19,260 per tonne and RMB 19,300 per tonne, learned SMM.
