

The USD 175 million casthouse expansion by Arconic Davenport Works has been officially completed. The firm, which is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, specialises in providing aluminium sheet, plate and extrusions, along with cutting-edge architectural products. These products are catered to sectors like ground transportation, aerospace, building and construction, industrial and packaging markets.
{alcircleadd}The project, called Pit 10, will aid in boosting aluminium ingot casting capacity, enhance the recycling of scrap aluminium, improve energy efficiency and bolster domestic manufacturing. With backing from the Iowa Economic Development Authority, this initiative is also set to create 40 new jobs at the site.

As mentioned in a news release from the Iowa Economic Development Authority, the site producing ingots will be used to create sheet and plate products. The release also included that a new saw will be introduced as well for improving both efficiency and safety.
USD 6.55 million in tax credits has been granted to the firm by the IEDA board through the Business Incentives for Growth (BIG) program. This grant aims to foster growth in vital sectors like advanced manufacturing, bioscience, insurance and finance and technology.

The BIG program assists qualifying businesses in covering some of the expenses tied to setting up, expanding or upgrading a facility in Iowa. IEDA mentioned that all awards come with a contract that specifies necessary investments, job creation or retention, and other obligations.
As reported by WQAD, the Pit 10 expansion is anticipated to be fully operational by 2028.
