Analysis of the Brazil Aluminium Sector

Brazil is emerging as one of the fastest growing aluminium markets in the world due to its rapidly developing economy and strong raw material base. The country has witnessed a continuous rise in the demand and import of aluminium. Consequently, the country's aluminium consumption has gone up by 8% between 2005 and 2010.
Owing among the consumers, the production of aluminium in the country has increased and reached approximately 1.54 million tonnes in 2010. Factors such as low aluminium consumption level per capita and rapid development of automotive industry are expected to drive the future growth of the industry.
Due to increasing penetration of cars in the country, the transportation sector is expected to boost consumption levels in the coming years. Currently, it accounts for approximately 21% of the total consumption but this share is expected to rise in future.
