Aluminium structural components showcased in SAG Tech Days North America 2015

SAG Tech Days held at each of the two US truck manufacturers and current SAG customers Navistar-International respectively Daimler Trucks North America in mid September were a huge success. Thereby less known possibilities from SAG as Rheocasting or aluminum structural components in general were presented as well as the possibility to work with SAG as a product development partner.

Fully packed with sample parts and presentation material the first stop was Navistar in Chicago where the managing director of SAG Mecasa, Mr. Luis Alvarez and the head of Sales of SAG Mecasa, Mrs. Alejandra Casas joined. Navistar currently receives air-tanks from the SAG-Mecasa/Proform joint venture. A presentation room was equipped with SAG posters and sample parts. During the day numerous employees from different departments visited to inform them about SAG’s possibilities. Interesting details to current customer problems and issues as well as SAG technical possibilities were discussed with design engineers, quality engineers or buyers.

After the Chicago day a flight to the other side of the continent was taken in fact to Portland, Oregon where Daimler Trucks Northamerica (DTNA) has their headquarters. Currently they receive diesel tanks from SAG Mecasa for their Freightliner trucks. In the discussions it showed that DTNA is already using many aluminum castings in their trucks which would match the Rheocasting technology perfectly giving the commercial and qualitative advantage connected to this technology.

Both SAG Tech Days paid off by directing our customers towards a broader SAG product portfolio and pointing out that SAG is capable of far more than just fuel tanks or air tanks and can be an attractive product development partner for innovative light weight design projects.
