Aluminium future, Jaguar Land Rover Ingenium and all-new XE

On growth front, JLR sales has risen from 274,280 vehicles in 2011 to 425,006 vehicles sold in 2013, up 19% from 2012. 80% of cars made at Jaguar Land Rover’s three UK manufacturing plants are exported. JLR’s largest export regions are mainland Europe, North America and China, regions which collectively account for 60% of its export sales. These past 3 years saw Jaguar Land Rover create 11,000 new jobs, which in turn facilitates creation of 24,000 positions in the supply chain.
Jaguar Land Rover also operates two research and development centres in Britain. Employing almost 28,000 people directly in UK, rising to almost 30,000 globally, JLR is further responsible for 190,000 UK jobs supported in dealerships, suppliers and local businesses.
In late 2014, Jaguar Land Rover will begin operations at its all-new engine manufacturing facility at Wolverhampton, UK. Production here will begin with advanced, aluminium engines, called ‘Ingenium’ to power future Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles at an investment of £500 mill, and will create almost 1,400 new UK jobs making way for 3,500 highly skilled jobs in the supply chain.
£1.5 billion is being invested to introduce an all-new, technically-advanced aluminium vehicle architecture in forthcoming JLR cars. Jaguar XE premium sedan to be manufactured from 2015 at Solihull plant is first in line. The project also creates 1,700 new jobs.
