Alumina spot price in China rises by RMB8/t over past week; A00 aluminium ingot price is down by RMB20/t

On Wednesday, April 17, the average alumina spot price in China has recorded an increase of RMB 3 per tonne to reach RMB 3,305 per tonne, marking the third consecutive day of rise, showed the Shanghai Metals Market data.

On a week-on-week basis, the average alumina price has edged a hike of RMB 8 per tonne; while on a month-on-month calculation, the price is down by about RMB 12 per tonne or 0.36 per cent.

In Shandong, Henan, and Shanxi, alumina spot price has unanimously gained RMB 5 per tonne to stand at RMB 3,265 per tonne, RMB 3,325 per tonne, and RMB 3,270 per tonne, respectively.

A00 aluminium ingot price

Despite the alumina price fall, A00 aluminium ingot price has shrunk by RMB 100 per tonne on the the same day to stand at RMB 20,160 per tonne. The average prices are estimated to range between RMB 20,140 per tonne and RMB 20,180 per tonne, with spot contract to be traded at a discount price of RMB 100-60 per tonne.

Over a week, the price is slightly down by RMB 20 per tonne from RMB 20,180 per tonne but up by RMB 910 per tonne or 4.73 per cent over a month.

In Tianjin and Shenyang, A00 aluminium ingot price has decreased by RMB 120 per tonne and RMB 110 per tonne, respectively, to come in at RMB 20,190 per tonne and RMB 20,100 per tonne, followed by the fall of RMB 100 per tonne in Gongyi and Linyi to RMB 20,110 per tonne and RMB 20,210 per tonne. In Foshan, Hangzhou, and Wuxi, A00 aluminium ingot price has dropped by RMB 90 per tonne, RMB 80 per tonne, and RMB 70 per tonne to RMB 20,150 per tonne, RMB 20,180 per tonne, and RMB 20,170 per tonne, respectively.

China’s domestic low-carbon aluminium price has descended by RMB 118 per tonne to settle at RMB 21,082 per tonne on April 17.

Aluminium alloy prices

Aluminium alloy (A356) and aluminium alloy (A360) prices have also witnessed a drop of RMB 100 per tonne on April 17 to reach RMB 20,750 per tonne and RMB 21,050 per tonne, respectively. The average prices are expected to hover around RMB 20,600-RMB 20,900 per tonne and RMB 20,950-21,150 per tonne.
