
North America’s alumina production registered a dip of 5% year-on-year. The output in November 2020 came in at 227,000 tonnes, from 239,000 tonnes in November 2019. On a month-on-month comparison, the production dropped slightly by 0.44 per cent from October’s production of 228,000 tonnes.

In the first eleven months of 2020, alumina output totalled 2.442 million tonnes, from 2.665 million tonnes in the first eleven months of 2019, according to the latest data showed by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). This marked a decrease of 8.37 per cent year-on-year.
South America’s alumina production declined by 2 per cent year-on-year to 980,000 tonnes in November 2020. The output was 1,000 tonnes in November 2019. On a month-on-month basis, the alumina production inched up by 5.83 per cent from October’s production of 926,000 tonnes.
In January-November 2020, alumina production in North America increased by 9.3 per cent year-on-year. The output was 10.644 million tonnes, from 9.736 million tonnes in January-November 2019.
