
According to the International Aluminium Institute data, alumina production in East & Central Europe in May 2021 stood at 425,000 tonnes, reflecting a month-on-month increase of 26,000 tonnes or 6.52 per cent. In April, East & Central Europe produced 399,000 tonnes, which stood almost flat compared to 398,000 tonnes in March 2021.

On a year-on-year calculation, East & Central Europe’s alumina production in in May 2021 edged 13.64 per cent higher than 374,000 tonnes.
Total production during January-May 2021 stood at 1.991 million tonnes, up 6.76 per cent from 1.865 million tonnes during the same period last year.
In West Europe, alumina production in May 2021 stood at 467,000 tonnes, up 27,000 tonnes or 6.14 per cent from 440,000 tonnes in April 2021. However, on a year-on-year basis, alumina production in West Europe in May 2021 dropped 0.85 per cent from 471,000 tonnes.
Total production in the first five months of the year in West Europe amounted to 2.316 million tonnes, down 1.99 per cent from 2.363 million tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
