
In East & Central Europe, alumina production in January 2021 stood at 410,000 tonnes, recording a downfall of RMB 6,000 tonnes or 1.44 per cent month-on-month, found the International Aluminium Institute. In December 2020, alumina production in East & Central Europe increased 3.48 per cent month-on-month from 402,000 tonnes to 416,000 tonnes.

On a year-on-year basis, East & Central Europe’s alumina output in January 2021 grew by 29,000 tonnes or 7.6 per cent from 381,000 tonnes.
In the entire year of 2020, alumina production in East & Central Europe totalled 4.597 million tonnes, up by 3.37 per cent from 4.447 million tonnes.
In West Europe, however, alumina production rose 3,000 tonnes or 0.63 per cent over the month to 479,000 tonnes in January 2021. In December 2020, the output stood at 476,000 tonnes, registering an increase of 20,000 tonnes or 4.39 per cent from 456,000 tonnes in November 2020.
On a year-on-year calculation, alumina production in West Europe in January 2021 stood 2,000 tonnes higher than 477,000 tonnes.
In the entire year of 2020, alumina production in West Europe came in at 5.618 million tonnes, down by 2.09 per cent from 5.738 million tonnes during the same period last year.
