Alumina production in Africa & Asia (ex-China) stands 7% higher YoY at 3.37 MT during 4Q2021

In Africa & Asia (ex-China), alumina production in December 2021 stood at 1.166 million tonnes, reflecting an increase of 4.67 per cent month-on-month. In November, alumina output in Africa & Asia (ex-China) came in at 1.114 million tonnes, up by 2.20 per cent from 1.090 million tonnes.

On a year-on-year calculation, Africa & Asia’s alumina output in December 2021 stood 6.29 per cent higher than 1.097 million tonnes.

From October to December 2021 (Q4), alumina production in Africa & Asia (ex-China) totalled 3.37 million tonnes, an increase of 0.60 per cent from 3.35 million tonnes in Q3 2021 and 6.98 per cent higher than 3.150 million tonnes in Q4 2020.

In the entire year of 2021, alumina production in Africa & Asia amounted to 13.174 million tonnes, up by 6.28 per cent from 12.395 million tonnes a year ago.

The world alumina production in December 2021 came in at 11.629 million tonnes, up by 3.86 per cent from 11.197 million tonnes in November 2021 and 7.66 per cent higher than 10.802 million tonnes in December 2020.
