Alcoa Workers Welcome President With Pride

It was a proud day for the Quad Cities and especially for those who work at the Alcoa plant in Riverdale, Iowa. President Barack Obama shined the spotlight on what workers have accomplished during a visit to the plant Tuesday. He even thanked them for providing the aluminum in the wings of Air Force One.
"So I want to thank all of you for getting me here in one piece. It was a pretty smooth ride, thanks to Alcoa," joked Obama.
The president toured a section of the plant where he saw one of the milling machines used to make the material for airplane wings and where the company invested $90 million on other equipment upgrades. Then, he gave brief remarks to a group gathered around a stage inside the plant.
"Good to be back in the Quads," he said. The last time Obama was in the Quad Cities was during the presidential campaign in 2008.
