Constellium raises 2026 guidance as Q3 adjusted EBITDA hits $276m & revenue jumps 22%

Constellium SE has raised its full-year financial outlook after reporting stronger earnings across its major aluminium businesses, supported by improved aerospace demand, favourable pricing and product mix, and robust recycling performance. However, lower shipments across parts of its portfolio highlight an uneven recovery in end-market demand.

The Paris-based aluminium products manufacturer reported its third-quarter and nine-month financial results on October 28, 2026, with profitability improving despite a slight decline in overall shipment volumes. The company also reported record quarterly adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA).

Constellium's Q3 2026 revenue and earnings climb

Constellium generated revenue of USD 2.64 billion in the third quarter, compared with USD 2.17 billion in the same period a year earlier. Net income increased to USD 119 million from USD 88 million, while adjusted EBITDA reached USD 276 million, up from USD 235 million.

Total aluminium shipments edged lower to 368,000 tonnes. Higher revenue per tonne, including the impact of increased metal prices, helped offset the effect of reduced volumes.

The company's operating performance benefited from stronger results in its Aerospace & Transportation (A&T) and Packaging & Automotive Rolled Products (P&ARP) divisions, alongside lower corporate costs. These gains were partly offset by weaker performance in Automotive Structures & Industry (AS&I), foreign exchange headwinds, and an unfavourable change in the non-cash metal price lag impact.

Ingrid Joerg, CEO of Constellium, shared on this note, “Constellium delivered another strong quarter, including record third-quarter Adjusted EBITDA, despite the ongoing uncertainties on the macroeconomic and geopolitical fronts.”

She added, “We achieved strong financial performance across all of our operating segments again this quarter, including record third-quarter Segment Adjusted EBITDA at both our A&T and P&ARP segments.”

Aerospace and transportation business benefits from stronger demand

Constellium's A&T division recorded higher shipments and revenue as aerospace and transportation, industry and defence (TID) markets improved.

Shipments increased to 59,000 tonnes, while segment revenue reached USD 664 million. Segment adjusted EBITDA rose to USD 102 million, supported by higher volumes and favourable pricing and product mix. Higher operating costs associated with increased activity and unfavourable foreign exchange translation partly offset the gains.

Joerg said, “During the quarter, we benefited from strong operational focus, cost control and improved market dynamics, including an improved aerospace and transportation, industry and defence (TID) environment, supply shortages of automotive rolled products in North America, and strong recycling performance in both North America and Europe.”

Packaging and automotive rolled products deliver stronger profitability

The P&ARP division recorded the strongest improvement in segment-adjusted EBITDA, which climbed to USD 162 million from USD 82 million a year earlier. Segment revenue increased to USD 1.63 billion.

Shipments declined to 266,000 tonnes, primarily because of lower packaging rolled product volumes. Higher automotive rolled product shipments provided a partial offset, benefiting from supply shortages in North America.

Improved pricing and product mix, together with favourable metal costs at the company's Muscle Shoals facility in the United States and Neuf-Brisach facility in France, supported earnings. The continued ramp-up of its French recycling centre also contributed to the division's performance.

Automotive structures and industry segment faces earnings pressure

Constellium's AS&I division experienced weaker quarterly performance as shipments of automotive and other extruded products declined.

Segment revenue fell to USD 402 million, while adjusted EBITDA dropped to USD 21 million. Lower volumes and less favourable pricing and product mix weighed on earnings, partly offset by reduced operating costs.

The comparison was also affected by net customer compensation received for underperformance of an automotive program in the year-earlier quarter. This created an unfavourable comparison for the latest reporting period.

The division's results contrast with the improved profitability of the company's rolled products businesses, illustrating the different demand and pricing conditions across Constellium's aluminium product portfolio.

Nine-month earnings nearly double as profitability strengthens

For the first nine months of 2026, Constellium recorded revenue of USD 7.85 billion, compared with USD 6.25 billion in the corresponding period of 2025. Net income increased to USD 463 million from USD 162 million, while adjusted EBITDA reached USD 1.074 billion against USD 566 million.

Shipments totalled 1.12 million tonnes, slightly below the prior-year level of 1.13 million tonnes.

Stronger results across all three operating segments, together with a favourable change in the non-cash metal price lag impact and foreign exchange translation, supported the earnings improvement. Higher corporate costs partially offset these benefits.

The A&T division reported segment-adjusted EBITDA of USD 340 million, while P&ARP contributed USD 478 million. AS&I generated USD 71 million over the same period.

Cash flow improves as Constellium maintains financial discipline

Cash from operating activities reached USD 420 million during the first nine months, compared with USD 271 million in the year-earlier period. Free cash flow increased to 223 million from USD 68 million.

During the third quarter, the company generated USD 186 million in operating cash flow and USD 128 million in free cash flow. It also repurchased 1 million ordinary shares for USD 30 million as part of its shareholder return program.

In July, Constellium completed a USD 100 million partial redemption of its 5.63 per cent senior notes due June 2028, leaving USD 225 million in aggregate principal outstanding.

The company's leverage ratio stood at 1.6 times at the end of September, placing it near the lower end of its target range of 1.5 to 2.5 times.

Constellium raises full-year 2026 financial outlook

The company cited its end-market position, previously announced return-seeking investments and opportunities to improve operational performance as factors supporting its outlook.

Joerg said, "Even though the current landscape remains volatile, we have a strong track record of navigating and executing in any environment. Based on our current outlook, we are raising our guidance for 2026 and now expect Adjusted EBITDA in the range of USD 1.03 billion to USD 1.06 billion, excluding the non-cash impact of metal price lag, and Free Cash Flow in excess of USD 300 million."

She added, "Looking ahead, we like our end market position and we are optimistic about our prospects, which include harvesting the benefits from our previously announced return-seeking investments and capturing future market opportunities. Our focus remains on executing our strategy, driving operational performance, controlling cost, maintaining commercial and capital discipline, generating Free Cash Flow and increasing shareholder value."
