Primetals wins 23-package order from China’s Dingsheng for aluminium foil expansion
London-based Primetals Technologies has won a new order from the Chinese aluminium flat-rolled products (FRPs) and processing items manufacturer Jiangsu Dingsheng New Materials, to supply 23 equipment packages for its aluminium foil mill expansion projects in China. Signed in August 2026, the contract covers Air Bearing ShapeMeters (ABSM), ISV-Electric and ISV-Electric Compact spray bars, and VPT3 position transducers for several locations. The technologies are designed to strengthen strip shape control and process performance, reinforcing Dingsheng’s efforts to expand aluminium foil capacity while maintaining consistent product quality and efficient mill operation. Arconic’s massive aluminum rolling mill in Iowa will retain a property tax valuation of about $50.1 million after the Iowa Court of Appeals rejected the company’s challenge to the assessment. In a ruling filed October 7, 2026, a unanimous three-judge panel affirmed the lower court’s determination that the industrial complex in Scott County had an actual value of $50,102,085 as of January 1, 2023. The decision leaves the Riverdale portion valued at $47.62 million and the smaller Bettendorf parcel at approximately $2.48 million. Germany’s aluminium FRP consumption reaches 1.68 Mt as 2025 trade surplus tops $3.1 billion
Germany’s aluminium flat-rolled products (FRP) market is revealing a striking disconnect between its shrinking primary aluminium base and its still substantial downstream manufacturing capacity. Estimated German FRP consumption reached 1.68 million tonnes in 2025, up from approximately 1.66 million tonnes in 2024, even as domestic primary aluminium production had fallen sharply in previous years. The latest trade data add another layer to the picture. Germany’s combined imports of aluminium plates, sheets and strip above 0.2 mm (CN 7606) and aluminium foil of 0.2 mm or less (CN 7607) reached approximately USD 5.04 billion in 2025, while exports climbed to USD 8.18 billion. India is producing more aluminium, but a growing policy debate is asking a different question of how much value is the country actually retaining from every tonne it produces? India is the world’s second-largest aluminium producer, with primary aluminium output reaching around 4.2 million tonnes.
