A00 aluminium ingot price has extended growth today, on April 16, for the sixth day in a row to touch the level of RMB 12,000 per tonne, learned Shanghai Metals Market. Yesterday, the price was RMB 11,910 per tonne, which represents that today it has increased by RMB 90 per tonne. The average prices are expected to range between RMB 11,980 per tonne and RMB 12,020 per tonne, with spot contract to be still traded at a discount and premium price of RMB 30 per tonne to RMB 10 per tonne.

Wuxi has seen the highest growth of RMB 120 per tonne to RMB 12,010 per tonne, followed by the growth of RMB 115 per tonne in Hangzhou to stand at RMB 12,030 per tonne. In Gongyi, the price has increased by RMB 105 per tonne to RMB 12,035 per tonne and that in Foshan, Chongqing, and Linyi by RMB 100 per tonne to RMB 12,050 per tonne, RMB 12,040 per tonne, and RMB 12,130 per tonne, respectively. Shenyang and Tianjin have seen a price rise of RMB 90 per tonne and RMB 75 per tonne to stand respectively at RMB 12,040 per tonne and RMB 12,020 per tonne.
The incessant rise in A00 aluminium ingot price for almost the past one week could be attributed to the growth in demand and consumption of primary aluminium ingots among downstream consumers, along with supply disruptions to warehouses.
Operating rates at large secondary aluminium alloy producers have been also found sluggish and hence, the tighter aluminium scrap supply, resulting in some downstream producers seeking primary aluminium as a substitute to aluminium scrap.
On the other hand, due to the supply shortage of secondary aluminium alloys, the prices of aluminium alloys (ADC12), aluminium alloy (A356), and aluminium alloy (A380) are either growing or remaining restrained. The price of aluminium alloy (A356) has recorded a rise of RMB 100 per tonne today to RMB 12,700 per tonne, while the prices of aluminium alloys (ADC12) and aluminium alloy (A380) have remained unchanged at RMB 13,750 per tonne and RMB 14,650 per tonne, respectively, according to SMM data.
The average alumina spot price has not recorded any change today from RMB 2,064 per tonne. The prices of imported alumina and Australian Alumina FOB have continued to be at RMB 2,075 per tonne and US$ 225 per tonne.
