China’s average alumina spot price opens the week with a growth of RMB13/t; A00 aluminium ingot price loses RMB110/t

On Monday, May 13, the average alumina spot price opened the week with a growth of RMB 13 per tonne to settle at RMB 3,691 per tonne. As per the SMM data, the alumina prices reflected a Y-o-Y surge of RMB 813 per tonne from RMB 2,888 per tonne recorded on May 12, 2023. 

Alumina prices region-wise

The prices as of today have shown increment in all the provinces, with the highest in Bayuquan followed by Lianyungang, where it has spiked up by RMB 50 per tonne and RMB 45 per tonne to clock at RMB 3,770 per tonne and RMB 3,760 per tonne. In other regions like Shanxi, Guizhou and Guangxi, the prices have added RMB 20 per tonne to peg at RMB 3,730 per tonne, RMB 3,690 per tonne and RMB 3,715 per tonne. In Shandong and Henan, the prices have moved up by RMB 5 per tonne to arrive at RMB 3,655 per tonne and RMB 3,665 per tonne.

A00 aluminium ingot price

On the same day, the A00 aluminium ingot price in China contracted by RMB 110 per tonne to halt at RMB 20,430 per tonne, with the average prices between RMB 20,410 per tonne and RMB 20,450 per tonne. The spot contract price may be traded at a discount of RMB 70 to RMB 30 per tonne.

The aluminium ingot price in Linyi has descended by RMB 130 per tonne to reside at RMB 20,460 per tonne, followed by a fall of RMB 100 per tonne in Foshan and Wuxi to dock at RMB 20,400 per tonne and RMB 20,440 per tonne. In Hangzhou and Shenyang, the A00 aluminium ingot prices have dipped by RMB 90 per tonne to settle at RMB 20,450 per tonne and RMB 20,400 per tonne. In Gongyi, Chongqing, and Tianjin, the SMM aluminium ingot prices have lost RMB 70 per tonne to stand at RMB 20,380 per tonne RMB, 20,420 per tonne and RMB 20,450 per tonne.

Other prices

The domestic price of low-carbon aluminium has nosedived by RMB 131 per tonne to clock at RMB 21,420 per tonne. The prices of high-purity aluminium (99.99%) and high-purity aluminium (99.996%) have slumped by RMB 100 per tonne to arrive at RMB 27,800 per tonne and RMB 28,800 per tonne. On the same day, aluminium powder's price inched down by RMB 0.1 per kg to stop at RMB 23 per kg. 

As per the SMM data, the price of aluminium alloys (ADC12), aluminium alloy (A356) and aluminium alloy (A380) have dipped by RMB 100 per tonne to clock at RMB 20,400 per tonne, RMB 21,000 per tonne and RMB 21,400 per tonne. For (ADC12) the average prices may orbit between RMB 20,300 per tonne and RMB 20,500 per tonne. SMM analysis states that for (A356), the average prices are expected to range between RMB 20,800 per tonne and RMB 21,200 per tonne. For (A380) the average price may oscillate between RMB 21,300 per tonne and RMB 21,500 per tonne.
