Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) today announced that Amcor Flexibles Italia S.r.l., Lugo di Vicenza has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V3.1 (2023). The facility produces aluminium, plastic film and paper-based flexible packaging for the pet food, healthcare and beverage sectors, using covering, printing, laminating, slitting, sealing, barrier coating and labelling processes. The plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 315 million m2 of flexible packaging.
{alcircleadd}The ASI Certification programme was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 and ASI CoC Standard V2 were launched in May 2022 following a multi-year revision process.
The ASI Performance Standard V3 defines 11 principles and 62 criteria under three sustainability pillars – Environment, Social, and Governance – with the aim to address pressing sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples' rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.

The 2022 standards and related documents underwent a minor update in 2023, accounting for editorial changes, the correction of minor errors and general clarification, culminating in the release of Performance Standard V3.1 (2023) and Chain of Custody Standard V2.1 (2023).
The Material Stewardship Certification is in a transition phase from the PS V2 (2017) to the PS V3 (2022) standard, such that the first certification cycle under the 2022 standard will be against applicable criteria of at least principles 1-4. These same facilities will be required to demonstrate conformance to all 11 principles within 5 years after the launch of the V3 (2022) standard.
The independent, third-party audit of Amcor Flexibles Italia S.r.l. was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd. A full listing of audit findings is available in the summary audit reports, linked below. No non-conformances were identified during the audit.
