
Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the world’s largest aluminium smelter on one site, has been honoured with the ‘Excellence in Safety’ Award by the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) during its annual awards ceremony held at Anfield Stadium, Liverpool, UK, on 18 November 2025.

The award recognises Alba’s outstanding achievements in workplace safety, including reducing total injuries by nearly 60 per cent over the past five years, fostering a bottom-up approach that ensures active employee engagement in safety initiatives, and maintaining the highest standards in safe lifting operations through continuous training and certification of its staff as lifting tackle inspectors. The award was presented by LEEA President Oliver Austin and LEEA CEO Ross Moloney and accepted on behalf of Alba by Safety and Health Superintendents Essam Hassan and Ali Hassan Radhi.
