Weekly aluminium end-user update: India’s integrated metal producing company ‘Shyam Metalics’ looking to diversify in aluminium foil business; Crown Holdings publishes sustainability report for 2020

India’s leading integrated metal company ‘Shyam Metalics’ has revealed its diversification news and stepping its foot in the aluminium foil industry. The company is the largest producer of ferroalloys in terms of installed capacity in India, as of February 2021. While this week also observed Crown Holdings' release of an interim sustainability report titled "Enduring Values, Continuous Progress”. On the other side, Pakistan Aluminium Beverage Cans Limited (PABC) plans to raise around Rs3.3 billion by offering a 26% stake to institutional and ordinary investors in an initial public offering.

The pearl-shaped island nation in South Asia, Sri Lanka recorded 375 tonnes of aluminium cans in 2018-19 and the foreign revenue expended for the import accounted for $1.70 million. The import for 2020 stood at 2440 tonnes and the expenditure remained at $2.90 million. However, when the import volume and expenditure of 2020 gets added with the existing two years, it denotes 2815 tonnes and $4.60 million respectively.

The East African nation, Tanzania’s import of aluminium foil during 2018-19 revealed 2462 tonnes and the revenue expended for the import accounted for $7.14 million. The import for 2020 stood at 2927 tonnes and the expenditure stood at $8.15 million. However, when the import volume and export of 2020 gets added to the exiting two years, it denotes 5389 tonnes and $15.29 million respectively.

The Central European nation, Poland recorded an import of 54,872 tonnes of aluminium cans during 2019-20 and the expenditure occurred for the import was accounted for $262.79 million.
