
The economy of Tanzania has prospered comparatively better than its regional peers, while the growth lost a bit of pace. The real gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate fell from 5.8% in 2019 to an estimated 2.0% in 2020, and per capita growth turned negative for the first time in more than 25 years.

The East African nation’s import of aluminium foil during 2018-19 revealed 2462 tonnes and the revenue expended for the import accounted for $7.14 million. The import for 2020 stood at 2927 tonnes and the expenditure stood at $8.15 million. However, when the import volume and export of 2020 gets added to the exiting two years, it denotes 5389 tonnes and $15.29 million respectively.

In 2018, Tanzania’s import of aluminium foil was recorded at 230 tonnes only and the expenditure occurred for the import remained at $0.48 million, whereas, in 2019, the import displayed super express growth by 870.43% and the expenditure surged to $6.66 million.
The import for 2020 also unveiled a rise in demand by 31.13%, as the import volume rose to 2927 tonnes and the expenditure also grew to $8.15 million.
Tanzania gradually developing a matured import destination for aluminium foils has received the itinerary from nations like China, Greece, India, Kenya, Turkey, UAE, etc.
