The United Kingdom-based waste management company Viridor has once again bagged the contract, worth £10 million, to process Ealing Council’s dry mixed recycling, with effect from June 6.
As per the contract, Viridor is accountable for processing around 24,000 tonnes of dry recycling annually collected in Ealing for the next five years. Recycling would include aluminium cans, glass, paper, card, and plastics, and the processing would be done at Viridor’s Crayford Materials Recycling Facility (MRF).

Earlier, Viridor won the same contract in 2016 and processed Ealing’s recycled material for the past four years, following Ealing Council’s decision to move to a comingled recycling collection service.
Crayford Materials Recycling Facility currently receives 300,000 tonnes of comingled dry recycling from 29 local authorities each year.
Commenting on re-winning the contract, Paul Ringham, Viridor Commercial Director, said: “The new contract with Ealing will see some 24,000 tonnes per annum of dry mixed recycling from Ealing’s 131,000 households processed at Viridor’s Crayford Materials Recycling Facility.”
He also said, “We are looking forward to continuing our excellent relationship with Ealing and its residents, making it easier for everyone to do the right thing and improve recycling rates. Ealing continues to drive the recycling agenda forward to the benefit of the environment and its residents.”
Councillor Mik Sabiers, Ealing Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Highways, added: “Ealing currently recycles more than 50 per cent of household waste, which is the one of the best records in London. I’m proud of our achievements and thank residents in their ongoing efforts as we look to create an even more sustainable and environmentally-friendly borough. I am glad we are continuing our partnership with Viridor as we look to improve our recycling rates even further in the future.”
