Implemented in partnership with the Socio Empowerment and Economic Development Society (SEEDS), VeDakshata is a residential training programme that combines technical education, practical industry exposure and placement support to improve workplace readiness among rural youth.

The skill centre, one of the region's first dedicated residential training hubs, offers courses in Food and Beverage Services, Sewing Machine Operation and Assistant Electrician, helping participants prepare for careers in the hospitality, manufacturing and technical sectors.

Since its launch, the initiative has recorded 318 enrolments, with 131 participants securing employment across various organisations, reflecting its role in improving job readiness and connecting local talent with industry opportunities.

Commenting on the programme, Amares Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium Coal Mines, said the company views skill development as an important driver of inclusive growth and is committed to creating long-term career opportunities for rural youth through relevant training and industry exposure.

One of the programme beneficiaries, Geeta Berera from Taparia village, said the Sewing Machine Operator course helped her develop new skills and gain confidence, enabling her to become more independent and optimistic about future employment.

Beyond skill development, Vedanta Aluminium Coal Mines continues to undertake community initiatives across sustainable livelihoods, women's empowerment, education, healthcare, sports and rural infrastructure. According to the company, these programmes have reached more than 200,000 people across Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts.
