
The United States aluminium scrap imports from Mexico in 1Q2022 halted at 348,000 tonnes, which on a Y-o-Y calculation recorded a hike of 62,000 tonnes or 8.54 per cent from 286,000 tonnes in 1Q2021. On an M-o-M comparison, the amount of aluminium scrap imported from Mexico by the United States in March 2022 recorded a surge of 3,700 tonnes or 21.63 per cent from 17,100 tonnes in February. In February, the amount of aluminium scrap imported from Mexico by the United States soared up by 1,700 tonnes or 11.03 per cent from 15,400 tonnes in January.

Based on the data from USGS, in 4Q2021, the United States imported 153,600 tonnes of aluminium scrap from Mexico. In October, the amount of aluminium scrap exported by Mexico to the United States stopped at 17,800 tonnes which on an M-o-M calculation ascended by 2,400 tonnes from 15,400 tonnes in November 2021. Further, in November 2021, a growth of 700 tonnes was recorded from 14,700 tonnes in December 2021.
The amount of aluminium scrap imported from Mexico for March 2022 closed at 20,800 tonnes, which on a Y-o-Y forefront heightened by 1,500 tonnes or 7.77 per cent from 19,300 tonnes in March 2021. From January to December 2021, a total amount of 680,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap was imported by the United States.
According to the USGS statistics, the total amount of aluminium scrap imported by the United States in March 2022 halted at 57,800 tonnes which went on to ascend by 11,600 tonnes or 25.10 per cent M-o-M from 46,200 tonnes in February 2022. On the other hand, in February 2022, a drop of 500 tonnes was recorded from 46,700 tonnes in January 2022.
