
The United States aluminium scrap exports to China fell sharply in July 2020 by 13,100 tonnes or 60.64 per cent month-on-month to stand at 8,500 tonnes, marking the second consecutive month of decline, according to the US Geological Survey.

In June 2020, the United States aluminium scrap exports stood 6,800 tonnes lower from 28,400 tonnes in May to 21,600 tonnes. In April, the United States supplied 26,600 tonnes of aluminium scrap to China, meaning the exports in May stood higher by 6.76 per cent month-on-month.
On a year-on-year calculation, the United States July aluminium scrap exports to China declined by 99.73 per cent from 31,300 tonnes. The total scrap exports from the US to China during the first seven months of 2020 (January-July) came in at 125,000 tonnes, down by 51 per cent year-on-year from 254,000 tonnes.
The United States aluminium exports (including aluminium semis and flat-rolled products) to China in July 2020 totalled 10,000 tonnes, 58 per cent lower month-on-month than 23,800 tonnes and 70.33 per cent year-on-year than 33,700 tonnes.
