
According to the US Geological Survey data, the United States in July 2020 exported 26,600 tonnes of aluminium plates, sheets and bars to Canada. In the earlier month, the US exported 18,100 tonnes, meaning July saw an increase of 46.96 per cent month-on-month in the US aluminium semis exports to Canada. The United States exports in June also saw a hike of 19.87 per cent from 15,100 tonnes in May. In April, the US exported 17,100 tonnes of aluminium semis to Canada, meaning the exports in May declined by 2,000 tonnes or 11.7 per cent from the previous month.

On a year-on-year basis, the United States aluminium semis exports to Canada in July 2020 decreased by 3,600 tonnes or 11.92 per cent from 30,200 tonnes.
In the entire first seven months of 2020, the United States aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports to Canada totalled 168,000 tonnes, down by 30,000 tonnes or 15.15 per cent from 198,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
The United States total aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports in July 2020 stood at 57,900 tonnes, bringing the seven months exports to 403,000 tonnes. In June, the US exported 49,800 tonnes of aluminium semis in total, meaning July saw a month-on-month rise in exports of 16.27 per cent. On a yearly basis, however, the exports decreased by 21.97 per cent from 74,200 tonnes.
After Canada, Mexico was the next leading destination for the United States aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports in July 2020. Mexico imported 21,800 tonnes, up by 6.34 per cent from 20,500 tonnes month-on-month but down by 31.23 per cent from 31,700 tonnes year-on-year.
