Ullrich Aluminium facility makes another solar switch
To celebrate, Energy Matters and Ullrich Aluminium will be holding a solar open day at the Pooraka facility; including a tour incorporating a scissor lift to the roof line, information about commercial solar and a light lunch.
Also attending the launch will be the Right Hon. Lord Mayor of Salisbury, Cr Gillian Alridge JP; as well as the City of Salisbury’s CEO, John Harry.
The 29.6kW solar power system has already been outperforming expectations. In its first two and a half months of operation, it has generated more than 14,300 kWh of clean electricity; which is over 800 kWh more than initially calculated.
In that time period, the system has created $3,737 in energy savings for Ullrich Aluminium and is predicted to pay for itself in around 4 years.
Solar electricity generated by the system has also helped Ullrich avoid 13 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions to date. It's estimated the array will offset 38 tonnes per year, the equivalent to taking 10 cars off the road.
This is the second commercial-scale solar panel array for Ullrich Aluminium, which is also the manufacturer of Energy Matters’ SunLock solar mounting system. The first solar power system was installed at Ullrich's manufacturing facility in Hume, ACT.
