The rising waterborne diseases and increased deaths from drinking contaminated water have come to the notice of the leading Indian business, and thus, UAIL has aggressively worked towards ensuring an adequate and safe water supply. Villages, especially in the remote areas of Odisha, such as Rayalaghaty and Kaliacanchera under the Kodipari Panchayat of the Kashipur block, usually depend on streams or open sources for drinking water. Usually, these drinking water sources are contaminated, leading to hospitalisation or death.

With the rising concern for people's health and the commitment to bring the required welfare, the firm has inaugurated five solar-powered tube wells and two Swajal water supply projects in Kaliacanchera and Rayalaghtay villages in Odisha.

The inauguration of these facilities for the villagers was commenced under the Mines Head of Utkal Alumina, Vijat Chauhan, with the firm's official representing the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department.

These projects will work towards eliminating the prevailing issue of the available drinking water and its safety in the region. With this project, the firm ensured that safe drinking water would be provided at the doorstep of every household.

On this account, a region resident, Malia Majhi, has shared, "People of our village have long suffered due to the lack of clean drinking water, especially during monsoons when natural water sources get polluted. Now, for the first time, we will be able to drink safe water, thanks to Utkal Alumina's initiative."

UAIL's initiative of providing to the villagers of Odisha remains a broader part of its effort to improve their quality of life by providing them with safe and healthy drinking water, maintaining sustainability at the core.
