Tesla has started delivering the Model Y L in India, a six-seater version of its Model Y electric SUV. The first vehicles have been handed over to customers through the company’s direct-to-consumer sales model.
{alcircleadd}The Model Y L is priced at INR 6.199 million (USD 65,600). Tesla is also offering financing options with monthly payments starting from INR 49,990 (USD 529) and down payments beginning at INR 650,000 (USD 6880), subject to loan approval and financing terms.
The vehicle offers a claimed driving range of up to 681 km under the WLTP test cycle and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds. It offers up to 2,539 litres of cargo space. The Model Y L is a larger, three-row version of the Model Y aimed at buyers who need extra seating.
Alongside the Model Y L, Tesla has introduced the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive in India.
The new variant is priced at INR 5.09 million (USD 54000) and claims a range of up to 500 km (WLTP). It does 0–100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and offers up to 2,138 litres of storage. Deliveries start in July 2026.
For the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive, financing options start at INR 39,990 (USD 423) per month with down payments from INR 600,000 (USD 6350), subject to approval and loan conditions.
The model variants also use aluminium and Tesla’s giga casting technology, which helps reduce weight, improve structural strength and simplify vehicle production.
Tesla noted that the Model Y remains one of the world's best-selling electric vehicle models. The company also said that both the Model Y L and Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive have received top safety ratings from several international safety organisations, including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Euro NCAP, Australasian New Car Assessment Program and China Insurance Automotive Safety Index.

According to Tesla, its vehicles receive over-the-air software updates and use remote diagnostics to support maintenance and servicing.
The company currently operates service centres in Mumbai, Gurugram, Delhi and Pune, and plans to expand its service network to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad.
The Model Y L can be ordered through Tesla’s India website and at Tesla experience centres located in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram.
