Sustainability weekly: Carbfix formulates unique method to store CO2 emissions; Ball and Coca-Cola unite to make their supply line greener

EDITED BY : MAYURAKSHI GANGULY 4MINS READ

The sustainability sector has witnessed a continuous boost in the last few months as the rising geopolitical and ergonomic crisis is taking its toll on the heavy metal industry. The need for green and renewable energy is aggressively increasing. Icelandic startup Carbfix has developed a revolutionary method for storing CO2 emissions. Their approach accelerates the natural CO2 mineralisation process, with nearly 95% of the CO2 transforming into solid rock within just two years. Rio Tinto and Prysmian Group announced a five-year low-carbon aluminium supply contract to help Prysmian manufacture cables for power grids in North America with more sustainable materials. Rio Tinto's Canadian operations will support Prysmian's decarbonisation efforts with its low-carbon aluminium produced using renewable hydropower. Ball Beverage Packaging and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners are starting a 12-month trial using part-HVO fueled vehicles in the UK. It is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by around 300 tonnes per year.
